Fantastic Show to Wrap Up the Quad Cities
02/27/10
I did not think it could get any louder than last night but it certainly did in the Quad Cities of Illinois and Iowa! The only rule at Gravity Slashers is the rowdier the fans get, the bigger the tricks are and it was followed obediently all night long.
The 50/50BMX.com Stunt Team went to new heights on the pedal bikes with Josh Holt throwing down the trick that made him a star- the 360 Double Whip. The rest of the guys followed suit with gigantic airs that had the crowd on its feet. Keith Weinland, a former US Moto Trials Champion showed the fans the other side of two-wheeled extreme using balance and skill to keep himself off the floor.
JJ Romans had a great night again, but the competition is getting closer every week. He started off in an event we rarely do- unless the fans earn it- and that is Team FMX. The riders are paired up into teams and must do a 45 second run together. The crowd got to do the judging and they picked JJ and his partner in crime- Adam “Big Casino’ Cousino after they put together a well-choreographed set of jumps. Then it was onto the FMX final with Ray Bennet, JJ Romans, Justin Stoltzfus and Ben Veyna. All four riders were separated by only 1.4 points in a tight battle for the win and the chance to be the last man sitting in the Gravity Slashers Hotseat. On paper (there is really no second place allowed in Gravity Slashers) Justin got to within three tenths of a point for his first win, but he was sniped in the end by JJ who scored out a 94.3!
What a fantastic show on the second to last weekend for our tour. Next week is Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and we are looking to go out with a bang! Make sure you keep tabs on us on GravitySlashers.com or Facebook under (what else?) Gravity Slashers. See you there or PA!
